Fandom is a-flare with Yuletide excitement!

Part of me thinks that yuletide is not the sort of thing that needs pimping--in some ways, it is the ficathon, my flist is crazy with posts talking about what they signed up for or what they will sign up for. But also, it occurs to me that some of the people on my flist who are here because they know me from high school or college or who are otherwise on the outer limits of fandom might be interested in playing along. Because the exchange focuses on "obscure" fandoms--from Homer to Shakespeare to Austen, from Orson Welles to Stanley Kubrick, from lyric poems to webcomics--it tends to have a more "literary" feel. The stories don't always "read like fanfic" (whatever that would mean), so if there's something about fan culture or the typical tropes of fanfiction that keeps you away, that needn't be a problem. And plenty of the fandoms are in the public domain, if that's been worrying you.

Maybe you shudder at the thought of writing a sappy sex story about Buffy and Angel (and fanfic has much more to offer than just that, but that's a different conversation for a different day) and run screaming from Mary Sues. (Maybe you have no idea what a Mary Sue even is.) Then maybe a Sherlock Holmes pastiche is more up your alley. Or a look at what a few characters from Shakespeare were doing off-stage. An introspective piece about Baudelaire's childhood. A revisioning of a beloved tale from your childhood. Take a look at the fandoms in play and see if there isn't something that is to your taste, something you'd really like to read or to write. It's a diverse and ecclectic list, and I'm willing to be that there's something on there for everyone.

You must make an offer, and make a request, in one of the following fandoms:

Stories should be over 1000 words, and about an incestuous (loosely defined) pairing, but may be any rating. On the 20th, post your story in your journal and leave a comment in the masterlist post I'll put up on that day.

Fandoms I'll Write In: You must offer at least one of the listed main fandoms, as well as anything else you think might get requested that you can write. (A suggested longlist of 'cesty fandoms can be found at the bottom of this post.)
What I Don't Want to Write: Things you can exclude specifically include: parent/child, sibcest, het, and slash. Recognize that slash here means BOTH m/m and f/f, and that you must agree to write, at the very least, sibcest OR parent/child. (It is assumed that everyone is willing to write cousin fic.) I'll do my best not to match people u with their hard-core squicks. If you want, you can be more specific, for example "I'll write any sibcest, plus Keith/Veronica" as long as you agree to the minimum.
What I Prefer to Write: I make no promises everyone will get to write what they want, OTOH.

Requests (you should make 3-4 requests, including a listed fandom) look like this:

Fandom: At least one of the requests must be made in one of the listed main fandoms. The other 2-3 fandoms can be whatever you want.
Pairing:
Type of 'Cest: To aid in my matching you guys up, especially since I might not be familiar with your fandom or its characters, please specify exactly what type of familial relationship exists between the pairing.
Prompt(s): A couple of elements to act as inspiration. Note that the recipient will only be required to write a fic which responds to the prompt(s) in some way, not to write the story you have in mind.

Note that this is a ficathon where the prompts are inherently squick-worthy to some degree; try and give your recipient some flexibility rather than requesting four very similar pairings. Be careful when you sign up, or you might get assigned something you didn't expect.
